Challenge
A UK company were contracted to supply >50m medical devices to the UK Government. They requested SCALA’s support to ensure timely and efficient supply of quality assured product. SCALA were to take responsibility for ensuring timely supply of quality assured components to the China factory, on-time manufacture of approved product, timely and efficient transportation to the airport, checking of all customs documentation and constant liaison with chartered airline company. Daily updates were required by the client’s UK Management Team.

The project involved visiting the site to establish relationships with all parties involved and ensure effective coordination throughout the operation.
Key subcontractors were also visited to review schedules and monitor progress against project requirements.
The team attended all quality control inspections and liaised directly with China customs, the road transport provider, and the chartered aircraft company to coordinate logistics and delivery activities.
Outcome
All shipments were completed on time throughout the project.
Solutions were identified and implemented to overcome unforeseen issues relating to bad weather, COVID, and poor packaging.
Following the successful delivery of the project, a repeat order for a further 50 million pieces was awarded to be monitored by SCALA.
